Lucky - Golden Angel

(Be sure to check out Lucky's update below following his Golden Angel story!)

Before joining the GRRR family, three-year-old Lucky had been tied to a tree his entire life. When he arrived at GRRR he had hardly any hair, was extremely skinny and had no social skills. On top of that he had a bout with his kidneys and liver which we weren’t sure he would survive. His sad and scared expression was heartbreaking.

Now, because of the unwavering love and generosity of the GRRR faithful who helped pay for his diagnostic tests and medication, he is doing very well and has a wonderful new family. We’re sure he wakes up every morning, and says to himself, “Wow, it’s not just a dream. This really is my new home!”

When Goldens join the GRRR family, the Golden Angel Fund makes sure they receive the tests, surgeries, treatment, rehabilitation and medicine they need so they can regain their health and be adopted by a new loving family.  If you would like to help turn another sad story into a happy “tail” just like Lucky’s, your donation will help more Goldens get back on their paws and live the wonderful life each and every Golden -- the kindest, most loyal and loving breed in the world -- deserves.

Brock (formerly Lucky) sent the following wonderful update on how he is doing in his new forever home:

Hi GRRR Gang!

You know me as “Lucky,” and “lucky” I certainly am to have the love and care of the terrific folks of GRRR, starting in December 2007. My forever family met me and adopted me on the spot in June 2008 and changed my name to Brock. . . but the “lucky” has not changed.

The main reason I am a Golden Angel is that I was so very sick last May and was hospitalized most of that month. Without my Mary (Kenton) watching over me and taking me to the hospital, I might have been a goner. I had a terrible flare-up of my liver and my kidneys, and the doctors were not sure I would make it. But with all the GRRR love and prayers, and with all the medical intervention, I recovered enough by late June to be adopted. Sometimes I think about what might have happened without the Golden Angel Fund and all the extraordinary people who contribute and care for us Goldens in need.

Now that I have my forever home, including a wonderful Golden sister, I am thriving and sporting a wavy red/gold coat, thanks to my thyroid meds. No more super-skinny, scared boy am I! I still need to keep an eye on my liver and kidney functions periodically, and I eat a kidney diet, but I am just a normal, happy guy now. I especially love tennis balls and soft toys, things I knew nothing about until GRRR introduced me! I even went to the GRRR Reunion Picnic, much to my Mary’s delight. I swam, chased tennis balls all over and had a blast! I have all the comforts of a home and family I love -- where I am greatly loved -- the kind of life every Golden deserves. My story seems like a fairy tale with a happily ever after. . .

Thanks so very much GRRR and the Golden Angel Fund, from me and my family, for truly rescuing me.

New Update My family just adopted Golden Angel, Louie.  I'm imcredibly happy to have him join our family and be my new Golden brother.  He and I have had similars challenges, and we are so happy to have found each other and share the same wonderful new family!
