Marley – Adoption Pending 4/19/19

Marley is a very handsome 10 month old Golden Retriever. This very sweet, very active, friendly, smart boy is in need of a very special home. Marley was purchased from a breeder by a military family. They were being transferred and unable to take him as the housing wouldn’t allow a dog. His family placed him up for sale and he was purchased by a very loving couple who were retired that couldn’t wait to have this young boy in their life. They had very big plans, travelling with him and spending time with family in their travels. Unfortunately right after they got Marley home they noticed he was holding his rear leg up and not putting weight on it while standing still. An appointment was made with their veterinarian to have him checked out. Marley’s new vet did an exam and found this boy appeared to have a dislocated hip. X-rays were done and sure enough it was dislocated, but it was even worse, there was no socket for the ball to sit in. Marley being such a young boy, he deserved to get the best surgery available. Not only would that surgery be very expensive, but the plans to travel had been arranged. Rehabilitating and recovering from hip surgery would never work out with their plans. This was a very sad and difficult decision for his new family. They loved this boy and wanted to do what was best for him, but staying with them was not what would be best for Marley. Marley deserved to have the surgery and recovery he so desperately needed. It was a very difficult phone call to make when they contacted GRRR. Of course we said yes, and Marley came to GRRR. Marley will get the surgery that he needs. But what Marley needs is a loving family who has the time and ability to get Marley through his surgery and recovery. Marley needs a home where he doesn’t spent a lot of time alone, someone who is willing to keep him quiet, with very limited activity. He will only be allowed to go out on leash for several weeks. No ball, no running, no stairs, not jumping on furniture or beds. Marley needs someone dedicated to giving him this opportunity to heal. Marley is such a beautiful boy, inside and out, and deserves the very best that we can give to him.
