Abby-11 years old (Female) Adopted 2/29/20

Abby is an 11-year-old lab/golden retriever mix.  Abby is a petite, sweet and mellow senior golden/lab mix.  Abby had been surrendered to a shelter when her family no longer wanted her.  Because the shelter has a low adoption rate, especially for seniors, they contacted GRRR to see if she would be able to find a new family for Abby.  When she arrived in our care at 11 years old, she had not been spayed and had a mammary tumor that had been there so long it had mineralized, it was like a rock inside her body! Abby has now been spayed, heartworm tested (negative), received all of her vaccinations and had the mass removed.  Abby has completely recovered and doing great.  The biopsy for the mass in her mammary gland came back early-stage cancer that was completely removed.  The only follow-up will be monthly breast exams to make sure no additional masses are found. Abby is great with all the other dogs in her foster home.  We really can’t say anything bad about Abby, she is such a well-behaved girl. If you are looking for a sweet companion, please read our adoption process and then complete the online application.
