Dixie-2 years old-Great Pyrenees Mix (Female) Adopted 10/15/21

Category:

Tootsie and Dixie are approximately two years old and were found abandoned by their owner in the rural area of northwest Colorado. They were trapped and taken into safety by a cattle rancher who wanted them out of the cold. He kept them safe and warm and fed them until a rescue could be found. We brought the two girls into GRRR and have introduced them to the life of being loved companions. They now sleep inside, eat premium food regularly, socialize with other dogs and people. When they arrived they were terrified of everything. It was obvious they had been left to survive on their own, which is not uncommon for unwanted guardian breeds. They were so thin and we couldn’t wait to get them eating and feeling great. They have been spayed, vaccinated and are now ready to start their search for a great home. They will need a new home with someone who understands the Great Pyrenees breed, knows they are thinkers, somewhat stubborn, and not the easiest to train. But Dixie & Tootsie are devoted, lovin and affectionate guardians dogs who would give their life to protect their people. They are good girls, but can get into mischief if left to their own imagination. They haven’t learned the difference between toys and blankets. The girls enjoy the company of other dogs. Playing and wrestling is their favorite thing to do. Because of their breed, they are cautious when meeting new dogs and people, but once they get to know you they are very loving and affectionate. With new dogs it does take them a little while to feel they are safe and will then welcome them into their pack. These two girls would do fine in a home with another dog either together or separate. They are beautiful girls and will be a welcome addition to a new loving home. If you are interested in meeting one or both of these girls, please read the adoption process, and then complete the online application.
