ADOPTED 1/5/23 Ripp-6/7 years old (Male)

Ripp is approximately 6-7 years old. We don’t know much about him because he came to us as a stray from Texas. Unfortunately Ripp is heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment for that. Ripp will need to be kept quiet for the duration of his treatment, but should recover just fine once it is completed. Ripp is a very sweet and gentle boy who loves nothing more than to get pets and snuggle. He does growl at other dogs when he first meets them, but this is out of fear. He is getting along well with the other dogs in his foster home. It is hard to say what sort of past Ripp has, but it is safe to say he wasn’t taken care of very well. He came to us severely underweight, but is slowing putting some pounds on. He still needs to gain more weight, but he is very much enjoying his 3 feedings a day. Ripp also has some chronic issue with his right front leg that causes him to limp occasionally. After getting complete x-rays of all 4 of his limbs it was determined that nothing can be done for him, surgically and that he will need to be on pain meds for the rest of his life. That being said, Ripp loves to run around the back yard and walks just fine. We do try to keep his running to a minimum when he is limping. Ripp is a very cuddly boy who needs a soft place to land for the rest of his years. Ripp would do best in a calm home that has very few stairs.
