Topaz & Ruby-Labs (Females) 11 weeks old

In March, two purebred Labrador Retriever puppies came into the care of Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies after suffering unimaginable injuries at just 6 weeks old. They had been attacked by a 10-year-old Labrador in the home where they were born.

The breeder did not seek veterinary care for four days. Thankfully, the puppies were ultimately relinquished to GRRR, allowing them to receive the emergency medical treatment they so desperately needed.

When they arrived, they were in critical condition. They were unable to eat because one puppy had a crushed skull and both had severe injuries, including a luxating jaw. The road to recovery was long, requiring weeks of intensive veterinary care, around-the-clock feedings, medications, and endless dedication from their medical team and amazing volunteer team .

While one sweet girl will have permanent damage to her right eye from the attack, she doesn’t let it slow her down. Both puppies have shown incredible resilience every step of the way.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Jeff, whose expertise and compassion helped make this recovery possible, along with everyone who played a role in giving these puppies a second chance.

Today, at 4 months old, these once-fragile puppies are thriving. They are playful, happy, full of life, and finally ready to find the loving forever families they have always deserved.

Their past does not define them it simply makes their future even more meaningful.

If you’re ready to open your heart to one of these amazing survivors, we’d love to hear from you.
